Thursday

29 miles round city & suburbs & countryside. Cracking night to be out, quite windy but felt good all the way round. 15.6mph average. Despite bike being in at LBS getting checked out, there's still a slight knocking coming from the bottom bracket area, despite it being replaced two weeks ago. Further investigation required methinks.

Totals

Total training mileage to date is now over the 1,500 mile mark. That's quite far!

Played squash for an hour last night plus a little extra running, some different exercises than cycling.

Saturday Training Ride

74 miles up and over Cairn o Mount from the South, definitely harder than from the North, much steeper ascent, but managed to get up to 48.5mph on the downhill on the other side. Zip zippy zip zip!!

Bike goes into get new cassette and chain fitted on Tuesday, toying with the idea of getting the tyres replaced.

Friday 12 June 2009

Commute

40 Miles commuting. Wind in my face on the way to work, wind in my face on the way home. Yeah, like THAT'S fair.

Tuesday 9 June 2009

Twa' hunner

Several hundred items of roadkill on the menu over the past two days, today's special being badger. 4 prize specimens awaiting the discerning customer in a number of phases of decomposition.

Dessert menu, anyone??

Friday 5 June 2009

Sunday 24 May 2009

Baker Hughes City of Aberdeen 10k

Completed the 10k today in 49 minutes 11 seconds.

Reasonably happy given the amount of running I've been doing!

Monday 18 May 2009

Wet.

Sunday 17 May 2009

Sunday 26 April 2009

Weekend

No football this weekend so put in 40 miles on Saturday, got soaked to the skin. With everything dry, got in another 54 miles on Sunday, couple of pictures across Kincardineshire. As far as you can see in the pictures, I cycled from there/to there. My legs are sore. My ass is ok.

Overtaken by a couple of roadies in full racing gear close to Garlogie, but blasted back past them and left them greetin' onto their carbon frames. Ha!

Wednesday 22 April 2009

Training today

Running: 6 Miles.
Cycling: 18 Miles.

Current training bike mileage to date : 580 miles.

Splendid.

Friday 17 April 2009

Bike to work

Friday 17th, cycled to and home from work, 42 miles round trip.

Felt good.

Sunday 12 April 2009

50 miles again today, still trying to shake off this cold though. The rest forced upon me by not feeling well has actually done me a favour, no ill effects to report now. 3 hours ish, 15.5mph average.

Training this week will consist of lunchtime running and evening cycling, plus football on Monday and Wednesday.

Continued thanks to everyone who has sponsored me, every penny helps to motivate & inspire me.

Monday 6 April 2009

Sunday

50 miles Sunday morning, 3 hours. via Inverurie, Oldmeldrum, Newmachar, Dyce. Average speed 15.7mph.

Planned runs this week; two commutes to and from work, 21 miles each way, times 4 = 84 miles.

Sunday 29 March 2009

Ride it like you stole it...

55 miles in total this weekend, due to football cancellation. Gym session sandwiched in between both rides.

I'm getting faster, average speed was 14.7 mph...ride it like you stole it.

Day One Plan

This is my plan for "Day One". Land's End to Okehampton, via Truro, St Austell, Tavistock. 105 miles, give or take.

Tuesday 24 March 2009

Route...

First leg of the route will be a 100 mile dash from Land's End to Okehampton. A conservative estimate of 12.5mph (conservative, hmmm, could maybe read ambitious) will mean I'll be 8 hours in the saddle on the first day. And the second. And the third...until I arrive in JoG! Great. Yeah, I mean it.

Bike

Posted by Picasa
First proper blogged picture of the bike! I actually love it. I hope you do too. Let your butterfly of love flap forth. Flap forth, little butterfly.
New pedals and aero bars fitted on Saturday for Sunday's 40 miler. Completed in 2 hours 20 minutes.

Thursday 19 March 2009

Training this week.

Two lunchtimes spent running this week, Wednesday (4 miles) and today (4.5 miles).

4 miles tomorrow too.

Accordingly to the scales, weight loss is now over a stone and a half. By my calculations, I'll have fully disappeared by August 14th, 2012. See ya!

Tuesday 17 March 2009

Update. Another one.

Legs are still a little sore from Sunday's duathlon, which I completed in a time of 1 hour 17 minutes.

Bought some new pedals and cleats for the bike so planning to get these (and the aero bars) fitted on Saturday prior to my planned 50 miler on Sunday.

My justgiving page has now been set up, I'll post it on here as soon as it goes "Live"

End.

Friday 13 March 2009

Friday; day of rest

No training of any type today, other than eating. Bacon & egg rolls, the breakfast of champs!

Bennachie Duathlon is on Sunday (re-arranged) so looking forward to that. I wonder if I'll be able to keep up...

Thursday 12 March 2009

Half century

Longest training run on Monday 9th, 50 miles, completed in a shade over 3.5 hours. Felt good afterwards, starting to think that I might need a new saddle, unless I can get my ass used to this one...

Monday 2 March 2009

Marchin' Already...

Into March now, so with a slight hangover from the night before, I got in 28 miles before lunch. I've added the bar ends onto the hybrid, so hopefully I'll be out on it from next week.

I'm back cycling to work in the mornings, daylight at 6.15am!

Monday 23 February 2009

More nonsense...

First proper Sunday cycle of the year around Aberdeen, out to Garlogie, Peterculter, Bieldside, then tore up Jacobs Ladder at about 15mph. Yeah right.

Motorists were being very well behaved apart from the ubiquitous aul' wifey in an aul' Volvo. Recently serviced brakes passed the test.

Latest weigh-in reveals I've lost one stone in weight so far.

Monday 16 February 2009

Bennachie Duathlon

I'm competing in the Bennachie Duathlon this coming Sunday, 3k run, 13k mountain bike with a 3k run to finish. I completed a five mile training run yesterday in 35 minutes (according to my Nike+) so fitness is pretty good at the moment.

Just hope I don't fall like I did in the 2006 Bennachie Hill Race. Michty me, by the amount of bleed ah thocht ahd done an artery!

Tuesday 10 February 2009

It's been snowing. A lot. We've been cycling. Not a lot.

Wednesday 21 January 2009

Hello!

Welcome to our Blog!

We've been out on regular Sunday rides since November, gradually increasing our mileage. I'm also cycling a daily 16 mile round trip to work, looking forward to the better weather and longer days! Hopefully Steve will have some of his incisive wit to offer this blog in due course.
